Over here at the Riders Action Council October 17 has come up at every meeting for months. It's getting cold and there is nowhere to shelter during the day. The library is closed, City Hall is guarded, no public restrooms anywhere. Union Station is the last resort, and the cops will kick you out. That leaves the WRTA to provide a rolling shelter, which is the very last thing that the bus company wants. In a downtown which is largely unoccupied, the solution seems obvious, but I hear that the City Manager's Office is studying the crisis.
I can't imagine what it would be like to be evicted. I got the donation envelope in the mail today from the food pantry. At least we can help a bit there, but where do you eat when you you don't have a kitchen table. Shame on the heartless people running this circus.
